The Cleanse Guide
At The Detox Company our aim is to provide you with healthy, convenient cleanse programmes that can be easily integrated into your everyday routine.
The purpose of this guide is to help prepare you for the journey ahead. We aim to empower you to enter your cleanse with clarity, purpose, and optimism. With the right approach, a cleanse can be far more than a few days of heightened nutrient intake – it can be a stepping stone to long-term lifestyle changes.
Our team is with you every step of the way for guidance and support, so please do not hesitate to reach out to us with any questions, or for any personalised recommendations.
We strongly believe that the routine you build around your cleanse will make all the difference to your experience.
With considered planning, you will find the cleanse easier and the benefits longer lasting.
We are excited to support you throughout your cleanse programme.
Before the Cleanse
When planning your cleanse, timing is everything. To set yourself up for the ultimate experience, we recommend that you schedule your cleanse during a time when you can provide your body with extra rest, love and attention.
In the lead up to your cleanse programme, it is ideal to eat in a way that will ease your body into the cleanse.
During the few days before you start, we recommend that you focus on whole, nutrient-dense foods and hydration.
Opt for vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, wholegrains, nuts, seeds and fish/poultry, all preferably organic.
Focus on the following:
Vegetables and herbs
Fruits
Healthy fats: olive oil, coconut oil, avocado, raw nuts and seeds
Wild fish and organic poultry
Try your best to avoid or limit the following:
Alcohol
Caffeine
Gluten and dairy
Red meat
Refined sugar
Processed food
Treatments are a great way to complement your cleanse. The most cleanse-friendly treatments include a lymphatic drainage massage, acupuncture, or your favourite relaxing facial.
In the lead up to your cleanse, taking small steps towards healthy daily habits will also improve your experience and help to maintain results.
Think about why you are doing this cleanse and set an intention for what you aim to achieve.
Focus on daily gentle movement for example a long walk or a yoga session.
Take a candlelit bath to relax or a cold shower to reinvigorate.
You may wish to gather together some or all of the following items:
A few snacks to reach for if you feel that you need them during the cleanse such fruit, an avocado or a small handful of unsalted raw tree nuts
Flax or chia seeds to support digestion
A reusable water bottle to stay hydrated
During the Cleanse
Aside from the shot, which can be enjoyed alongside your first juice, we recommend that you consume one product approximately every 2-3 hours throughout the day.
If your programme includes soup, we recommend that you warm it over a low heat until it comes to a slight boil.
If you feel hungry or slightly lightheaded, we encourage you to have small snack from your cleanse kit. You could also try adding one tablespoon of flax or chia seeds to 100ml water and leave to soak for 10 minutes, to consume alongside your next juice (note: it will thicken to create a gel-like texture).
Staying hydrated while on a cleanse is extremely important. Drink filtered still water or herbal teas between juices.
The following herbal teas can support and enhance the cleanse:
Lemon: immune and detoxification support
Ginger: soothes the stomach, supports the immune system and warms the body
Fennel: digestive support and hormone balance
Peppermint: digestive support and migraine relief
Camomile: relaxation and sleep support
Hibiscus: blood sugar level support
Dandelion Root: liver and detoxification support
While cleansing avoid activities that place stress on the body such as high-intensity exercise. Try a relaxing walk, swim or gentle yoga class during your cleanse.
Many people find that they complete a cleanse programme feeling great throughout. You might however experience some detox symptoms such as headaches, fatigue, bloating, irritability or feeling colder than usual.
To help alleviate these symptoms, we suggest you try:
Eating a light snack from your cleanse kit
Enjoying a bath or shower
Listening to your body and resting
Booking a massage or treatment
During the cleanse it is best to limit or avoid caffeine. If you experience headaches due to caffeine withdrawal, try drinking green tea.
Doing a cleanse is about helping your body rebalance and restore.
It could take the form of the following daily practices:
Reading more
Reconnecting with nature
Prioritising your self-care routine
Focusing on your sleep schedule
After the Cleanse
What you put into your body after a cleanse programme is as important as the cleanse itself. Your system is ready to absorb all of the nutrients you consume, and opting for a varied and vibrant whole-food diet will ensure that you optimize the long term effects on your body and mind.
The day after your cleanse reintroduce fresh fruit, vegetables and herbs as well as green juices or smoothies and raw nuts and seeds. We recommend that you keep portion sizes relatively small for the next few days. Take note of how your body responds to certain foods as you reintroduce them, to help you get a sense of what works for you.
Keep your focus on healthy eating and any intentions you set at the beginning of the cleanse.
After the cleanse give yourself a few days before resuming any activities that are too strenuous or exhausting. Build up slowly and aim to return to your normal workout routine in the few days following the cleanse.
A cleanse programme can be challenging – huge congratulations on completing it!

Prioritize self-care and rest
